Portable conduction flower vapes that can also do extracts do it with some sort of mesh or metal can. But it's not the same as using a torch/nail rig, or even an extract pen. Those devices get up to between 650F and 1000F and vaporize the entire amount in a single, quick inhale. The flower vapes that try to do extract also aren't getting any higher than 450F, so it is a session experience with a bunch of small, wispy, very smooth and flavorful hits instead of one big hit.
For your portable vape you could set it to the highest temperature and put a small amount in the can. Once it is up to temperature, put the can in and let it sit for a minute. You can keep the mouthpiece off to watch for vapor forming if you want. Once it starts you can put the mouthpiece on and take little cigar style puffs until it quits producing vapor or until you're done. Start out with a small amount and gradually use larger and larger amounts until you find your sweet spot.
