The length of time it takes to fill a balloon and the consistency of vapor depends on many factors, such as the type of materials you are using, the amount of materials packed in the bowl, the dome screens (if they are clean or clogged), and the balloons themselves (if they are new or well-used). Depending on these factors, it should take approximately 2-3 minutes to fill the balloon.
Occasionally replacing the Balloons will help maintain optimal performance, and I also recommend regular cleaning / maintenance of the Dome Screen in your Mini Whip to keep the air flow unimpeded. To clean the Dome Screen is easy -- just soak it in isopropyl alcohol overnight (use a container with a lid), the next day scrub it clean with a toothbrush, rinse it with hot water and blow it dry. Repeat as necessary. You can also purchase replacement parts on our website here.
Cleaning the fan inside the unit can also be done by removing the four rubber feet, screws, and base plate, then carefully dusting out the unit with canned air (available at most computer and electronic stores). If you notice any broken glass, the Glass Heater Cover may be broken and should be replaced before further use. The replacement part comes with step-by-step repair instructions and I can help you further if it is broken.
To help us accurately diagnose the problem you can also perform this quick test:
- attach an empty Glass Cyclone Bowl to your unit
- remove the Dome Screen from your Mini Whip
- attach the Mini Whip and Balloon
- time how long it takes to fill the balloon on fan speed 3 through an empty bowl and no Dome Screen in the Mini Whip
- let us know your results
